AND NOW The Second Episode Ripple Effect! “Inspired by the Big Give” A Passion for Helping Others Leads to Six Figure Gift in One Day
A 24-hour fundraising marathon resulted in more than $100,000 that was raised by a group of Inspired Individuals. Dr. Ellie Drake was inspired by Oprah Winfrey’s nationally televised program “The Big Give” to create their own big give. Dr. Drake called on her resources, network of clients, and supporters to raise the money immediately following the airing of the television show on Sunday March 2nd.
The marathon session began with a conference call with almost 700 people who simultaneously watched the program with Ellie Drake who made an impassioned appeal during the commercial breaks and right after the show announced a call to action. Prior to the show, Ellie contacted officials at St. Bernard’s Project in New Orleans to let them know about her intentions to raise enough money to repair and replace the homes of 10 Katrina-ravaged families. Dr. Drake pledged to not only raise the money, but to bring an army of volunteers to help with the repairs on the weekend of April 11th.
By the end of the day on Monday, March 3rd, the "Inspired by the Big Give" Team had exceeded the goal of raising $100,000. They will deliver those donations to St. Bernard Project when they go with their team of volunteers next month. The success of this effort has already been recognized on the locally broadcast program Good Day Atlanta where Dr. Drake discussed the effort with Fox 5’s Mark Hayes on March 6th.
Now the team is inspired by what they have accomplished in just 24 hours, and want to at least double those #s by the end of March. Anyone who makes a contribution will be recognized on the "Inspired by the Big Give" website, and will receive a receipt for their tax deductible contribution to the BraveHeart Foundation which will in turn contribute 100% of the contributions to one or two charities in New Orleans in an effort to fix and/or build more homes.
The "Inspired by the Big Give" team are now announcing a call to action starting Sunday March 10th...Immediately after the second episode of the "Big Give"!
